BIRTH OF UPSIFS, LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh State of Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow is a newly instituted educational institution and the flagship project of the Government of the Uttar Pradesh has commenced it’s the First Academic Session (2023-24) was inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Aditya Nath on 16.08.2023. The Institute with the objectives to build a world class educational institution for Forensic Science and Legal Studies has been registered under the Societies Registration Act-1860 (Act No. XXI of 1860) in 2022. At present UPSIFS is affiliated to the National Institute of Forensic Science (NFSU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This Institute has been built with the vision of creating professional experts in the field of forensic science and law. It is also committed to build a world class research center and service provider in critical areas of DNA and other branches of forensics, cyber security and emerging technologies blend with legal knowledge for the larger benefit of the society and humanity. 2. MISSION OF THE INSTITUTE: The mission of the institute is to provide multidisciplinary and exceptional forensic science and legal education to students, which includes scientific research, ethical practices, upholding truth and justice within the global criminal justice system. It also integrates industry needs to provide research-based solution in collaboration with other institutions in India and abroad. 3. VISION: The vision of the Institute in brief is as under: (i) To create a pool of trained manpower in the fields of forensics and legal studies who can hold various positions in forensic laboratories all over the country. (ii) To inculcate the knowledge of science & technology, providing specially designed academic training programs in various fields of forensic science and emerging technologies and law, which includes both theoretical inputs and practical training to generate skilled expertise. (iii) To create capabilities for upgrading the infrastructure to global standards for education, training and research in the areas related to forensic science, cyber and other emerging technologies, criminology, applied behavioral science and law. (iv) To establish close linkages with various forensic science laboratories, Institutes, law enforcement authorities and Institutions to enable teaching, training, and research relevant in forensic science, security and policing and legal domain. Forensic Science (Five years integrated programme) For admission, the candidates have to apply for National Forensic Admission Test (NFAT)- 2024 conducted by NFSU, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. For applying visit website www.nfsu.ac.in. Passed or appeared in 10+2 (or its equivalent) in Science, Physics/ Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics with at least 60% for General/OBC/ EWS category candidates and 55% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD category candidates. 2. M.Sc. Forensic Science (Two years programme) Bachelor’s degree in Science / Forensic Science/ Medicine / Engineering / Pharmacy/ Dentistry/ Ayush with at least 55% for General/ OBC/ EWS category candidates and 50% or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD category candidates. 3. B.Sc.; LL.B. (Hons.) (Five years integrated programme) The selection shall be based on merit of the marks obtained in CLAT-2024. The last date for application is 10.05.2024. 1) Candidate has to qualify CLAT UG-2024 and admission shall be based on merit of CLAT Score; and 2) Passed Intermediate/Higher Secondary Board Exam (10+2) in Science Stream or Commerce/Arts Stream with Mathematics or Statistics subject with 50% marks or equivalent (45% or equivalent marks for SC/ST and PWD category) 4. LL. M. (Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Administration) (One year programme) 1) Candidate has to qualify CLAT PG-2024 of the admission shall be based on merit of CLAT PG Score; and 2) Passed three-year LL.B. programme after graduation or five-year integrated law programme with 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent. 5. LL. M. (Cyber Law and Cyber Crime Investigation) (One year programme) 1) Candidate has to qualify CLAT PG-2024 of the admission shall be based on merit of CLAT PG Score; and 2) Passed three-year LL.B. programme after graduation or five-year integrated law programme with 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent. 6. B.Tech - M.Tech. Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security) (Five years integrated programme) The selection shall be based on merit of the marks obtained in JEE (Main) - 2024. The last date for application is 10.05.2024. 1) Passed or appeared in 10+2 (or its equivalent) in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one subject out of Chemistry/ Biology/ Information Practices/ Page 5 of 7 Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subjects/ Business Studies/ Entrepreneurship or any other equivalent subjects with a minimum of 60% marks (55 % for SC/ST/PwD category) in the above subjects taken all together (aggregate). Note: 60% aggregate will be calculated on the basis of marks of Physics, Mathematics and maximum marks secured in Chemistry or Biology or Information Practices or Biotechnology or Technical Vocational Subjects or Business Studies or Entrepreneurship or any other equivalent subjects. 7. M. Tech. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (Specialization in Cyber Security) (Two years programme) The selection shall be based on merit of the valid GATE Score. The last date for application is 10.05.2024. B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Engineering/ Technology OR Computer Science and Engineering OR Information Technology Engineering OR Information and Communication Technology OR Electronic and Communications Engineering OR MCA OR M.Sc. CSE / IT OR equivalent qualification from recognized University with minimum 55% (50 % in case of SC / ST / PWD Candidates) at the qualifying examination. 8. Ph.D. As per GATE /CSIR/UGC Norms. Candidate with JRF or sanctioned scholarship shall be preferred. In this regard, the institute shall be the final authority. 7. THE SELECTION PROCEDURE: The candidates for each course would be selected on the basis of merit of the different national level tests mentioned in para no. 06. Their final selection will be subject to the reservation policies in various categories as mandated by the policy of Government of U.P. The institute shall be the final authority to decide the admissions. 8.
